Hello

I just realized I never post in here! Well maybe I can make some use of it now that I've cancelled my Facebook. Actually, let me talk about that for a second.

At my two-day Executive Leadership Development training, we spent an entire hour discussing how people communicate. We listed all of the different ways people these days are able to communicate with eachother, including cellphones, text, e-mail, fax, linked-in, facebook, twitter, myspace, etc, etc. After coming up with about 10 different social media networks, 4-5 ways to communicate via phones, we realized we didn't even list regular snail mail, or more importantly face-to-face time. Granted, we assumed the assignment meant venues in which you could communicate without seeing one another, but the instructor didn't say that. It was truly somewhat of an eye-opener. Looking at social media alone, and to be more specific, Facebook, I realized how much time I waste on the computer reading about my family and friends' lives through their status updates. As my instructor had said, we can at times "invite people into not just our homes and lives, but also into our bathrooms. " She had meant this jokingly, but I have seen some status updates that have come dangerously close to doing just that! Anyway, I don't want to just read about people's lives through Facebook anymore. My goal is to try and phone more often, and write more often. And honestly, I can't ignore technology so I'm not going to try and go back to the 50's you know? E-mail and blogging worked fine for me in the past, so I think I'll include those too. Obviously, since I'm blogging now... :)

I was talking to Molly earlier, well texting Molly earlier, about how even just a few hours after deactivating Facebook, I felt so out of the loop! It really is an addiction if you let it become one. She did remind me it wasn't an important loop, so that made me feel better. ;)

I was going to write more about my leadership training because it was so transforming, but I don't have time right now. I'll try to write about it later, but I make no promises! Especially since I don't really have any readers anyway, haha.
